Howard Raishbrook
At just 18 years old, Howard left his native UK and moved to Los Angeles, driven by a belief that the U.S. held greater opportunity—and determined to chase his passion for production. With relentless persistence and a drive to succeed, he quickly found himself working on feature films, commercials, music videos, and infomercials. His love for both filmmaking and current events, combined with a sharp creative business sense, led him and his brothers to launch RMG News—an innovative news agency supplying breaking news footage to major global networks including CNN, Fox News, and Univision.
Today, RMG News serves a worldwide clientele that spans daily television shows, international newsrooms, and documentary producers. The company’s fearless, around-the-clock reporting has drawn widespread attention. In 2008, The LA Times called RMG “a well-oiled newsgathering force,” while FHM Magazine noted, “They take things further by venturing into areas that even hardened LA cameramen fear to tread.” The company’s success also inspired Stringers: LA, a reality TV series that premiered on TruTV in 2008, giving viewers a rare behind-the-scenes look at the gritty, high-stakes world of night-time news gathering. TruTV executives described RMG as “one of the most successful news photography companies in L.A.”
Howard demands excellence of himself first, and others second. But his professional goals have not diminished his people skills, and he creates an extraordinary environment in which long-term, trusted working relationships flourish. It is this energetic approach to all aspects of his personal and business life that creates Howard’s unique approach to any type of production.
In 2011 Howard co-produced “XRC” (Xtreme Reality Clips), a 52-episode show created from RMG’s vast library of extreme news footage. “XRC” was instantly recognized by top programmers from around the globe and was acquired by the leading broadcasters and networks in Asia (Discovery Channel), Africa (Sony’s Channels, Sony MAX and SET), and Latin America.
In 2015 he worked alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and director Dan Gilroy (Bourne Legacy, Kong: Skull Island) on the critically acclaimed film Nightcrawler. The script went on to be nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the 2015 Oscars and UK BAFTA Awards. He then went on to create and executive produce the 8-episode series “Shot in the Dark” on Netflix. Critics praised its thrilling and visceral portrayal of crime journalism: Decider wrote, “If you’re looking for an adrenaline rush from the safety of your couch, you’ve found it in this gripping exploration of the journalists that provide us with the images that make us grimace.”
Howard most recently executive produced two seasons of “First on Scene”, which documents first-hand accounts from emergency responders, police, and journalists. Available on Peacock, Amazon and other major broadcasters, the series delivers jaw-dropping insights into the most heroic, uplifting, bizarre, life-changing, and heart-breaking moments ever captured on camera.
Away from the camera and the chaos, Howard enjoys the simplicity of a good run and the irreplaceable time he shares with his family. In May of 2025, he was honored with a Silver Telly Award at the 46th Annual Telly Awards for his powerful and compelling coverage of a devastating Malibu brush fires. He is represented by Mike Gelles at AG Unscripted.
