A deadly single-vehicle crash occurred around 1:31 a.m. on January 20, 2026, along Valley Circle Boulevard in Woodland Hills. A blue Ford Mustang was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control and slammed into a tree, nearly splitting the vehicle in two. A nearby resident who heard the impact ran outside and found the car on fire. The Good Samaritan rushed back to his home, grabbed two fire extinguishers, and returned to knock down the flames before firefighters arrived. LAPD officers arrived shortly afterward and shut down the roadway. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported one male victim to a local hospital in serious condition. A second occupant was treated at the scene. A third victim was found trapped in the wreckage and pronounced dead at the scene. LAPD Traffic investigators kept Valley Circle Boulevard closed for several hours while the investigation was conducted. The first of two crashes left three vehicles disabled in lanes of the northbound 110 Freeway at Manchester in South Los Angeles around 1:55 a.m. on December 13, 2018. After several tense minutes, two additional vehicles crashed while attempting to avoid the disabled cars, with one vehicle spinning multiple times before slamming into the center divider. A father and his daughter were evaluated at the scene by paramedics, along with a possible third victim. The California Highway Patrol shut down the entire northbound freeway for at least 30 minutes while damaged vehicles and debris were cleared from the roadway. Around 7:30 p.m. on January 16, 2026, at least one suspect smashed their way into the rear of a large, occupied multi-million-dollar home on Sancola Avenue in Toluca Woods. The homeowner, who was inside at the time, shouted after hearing noises and seeing a flashlight. LAPD North Hollywood officers responded along with air support and made contact with the resident. The LAPD helicopter reported visible signs of forced entry at the rear of the home, including shattered glass. Officers formed a search team and conducted a methodical sweep, ultimately clearing the residence. No suspects were located. LAPD is reviewing CCTV footage related to the incident, and a broadcast was issued to notify the Burglary Task Force in the area. Detectives arrived on scene to continue the investigation. A series of fires were intentionally set within blocks of each other overnight in the San Fernando Valley, prompting an arson investigation. The first fire was reported around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday near the 405 Freeway in Van Nuys. Shortly afterward, another fire broke out at an apartment complex on Kester Avenue, where flames engulfed several vehicles and threatened nearby residences before firefighters brought the blaze under control. Authorities responded to at least four separate fires in close proximity, including a trash compactor fire in Sherman Oaks that was later upgraded to a structure fire. Surveillance video captured a suspect igniting a fire behind a carport and fleeing the area. No injuries were reported. LAFD arson investigators and the LAPD Major Crimes Division responded and began working to determine whether the fires were connected and if a single suspect was responsible. A historic four-bedroom home built in 1926 was saved from demolition and relocated overnight from North Orlando Avenue in West Hollywood to Altadena as part of the Historic House Relocation Project, offering a new beginning for a family displaced by wildfire. Drone and ground footage captured the carefully planned move as the home was transported beginning around 11 p.m., navigating a complex route through Santa Monica Boulevard, Western Avenue, Olympic Boulevard, Main Street, and Alameda Street before reaching its new destination. The 2,300-square-foot residence is being dismantled, transported, and reassembled on a new foundation on West Pine Street in Altadena. Organizers say the months-long process preserves historic architecture while providing a faster and more affordable rebuilding option than new construction for families impacted by fires. The home will become the new residence of the Martinez family, who lost their previous home in the Eaton Fire in January 2025. Once reconstruction is complete, the family will be able to remain in their community while also helping ensure a piece of Southern California history is preserved. Project organizers say the effort highlights how historic home relocation can both support wildfire recovery and prevent architecturally significant structures from being lost. A cameraman following a police pursuit arrived on scene just seconds after an LAPD patrol car crashed at the intersection of 98th Street and South Avalon Boulevard in Los Angeles around 11:14 p.m. Video captured an injured officer opening the patrol car door and falling onto the roadway as fellow officers rushed to help, dragging the officer onto the sidewalk to safety while the chaotic aftermath unfolded. More than 30 patrol vehicles from the Los Angeles Police Department converged on the area, locking down the intersection and surrounding streets. The LAPD airship continued tracking the pursuit suspect from above after a watch commander ordered all ground units to terminate the chase and respond to the officer-involved collision. The incident began when officers from Central Division attempted to stop a black, older-model Cadillac Escalade reported stolen. The driver refused to pull over, leading officers through multiple divisions, including Newton, before entering the 77th Street and Southeast areas. As the pursuit continued southbound on Avalon Boulevard, one patrol unit collided with a yellow Ford Mustang traveling westbound on 98th Street. Two LAPD officers and two occupants of the Mustang were injured. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported all four to nearby hospitals. Their conditions were not immediately known. LAPD Traffic Division investigators were handling the crash investigation. The suspect in the Escalade remained at large as of Friday night. A big rig driver was transported in critical condition after crashing through a wall on the eastbound 210 Freeway just before Baldwin Avenue in Arcadia around 2:40 a.m. on May 23, 2025. The truck plunged off the freeway and landed on surface streets near West Colorado Boulevard and Monte Vista Road. First responders initially believed the driver had died after locating him trapped beneath a large pile of rubble approximately 50 feet away from the destroyed big rig. He was later found to be alive and was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. The truck was so heavily damaged that officers initially could not locate any occupants. Oxnard: Hit-and-Run Driver Crashes Into Home, Causes Major Damage; Resident Hospitalized.

CCTV footage captured a violent crash at approximately 11:44 p.m. on June 27, 2020, near S Alameda Street and E Firestone Boulevard in Southgate, where two vehicles traveling side by side both lost control. Video shows a white Chevrolet Camaro veering off the roadway at high speed and crashing directly into a Carl’s Jr. restaurant. Two men were seen quickly exiting the passenger side of the Camaro following the impact. At the same time, a white Dodge Challenger Hellcat also lost control, crossed over the center divider, and collided with oncoming traffic. A female occupant from that vehicle was treated at the scene and transported by paramedics.
